From Dubrovnik to the entrance of the national park Krka, there is a drive of approx 3 hours, driving firstly on the main coastal road with
magnificent views to the islands and down into the Neretva valley.
The national park Krka is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, including one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems.
The purpose of the park is primarily to serve science, culture, education and recreation, while tourism activities have also been introduced for its visitors.
The need to legally protect the Krka River and its exceptional natural values was already recognized in the mid 20th century.
The area was proclaimed a national park in 1985.
From the small but beautiful town Skradin, you should take a boat to drive up the river Krka firstly passing one of the largest waterfalls called Skradinski Buk.
After the boat tour of about 30 minutes, you can choose one of the other boat tours for example to the islands Visovac, to an old monastery or just enjoy a walk through the untouched nature, down the trails, crossing the bridges over the travertine barriers...
After about 4 hours in the park, it is time to start the journey back to Dubrovnik.
